Bless His Holy Name

“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name!”
— Psalm 103:1 ESV

It is easy to bless the Lord when things are great, and life feels victorious.

It is easy to pour our hearts out to Him when we are standing on a mountaintop, but we struggle to praise Him when we are deep in the valley. It’s hard to press through, commanding our souls to bless the Lord when life knocks us down.

But Psalm 103 gives us permission to bless Him with all that is swimming deep in our souls…our pains, our weariness, our struggles, and our disappointments

He is worthy of praise. Bless His Holy name. We must not forget ALL of His benefits. The ways He has washed, cleansed, and delivered us out of deep waters. We must not forget the many ways we have witnessed His faithfulness. He is a healer who forgives our iniquity and heals all sickness.

My God is El Gibbor, the Lord Mighty in Battle, who redeems us from the pit and crowns us with steadfast love and mercy. As we bless Him, we are renewed and satisfied with good things. While we bless Him, we watch as He works righteousness and justice in our oppression. He is a patient God who corrects and doesn’t condemn. He removes our transgressions as far as the East is from the West.

Oh, Bless Jesus, who shed His blood for our righteousness. He is God, who is full of compassion. His steadfast love is from everlasting to everlasting.

Oh, Bless the King of Glory. Bless His Holy Name. His praises shall continually be in our mouths. Oh, bless His Holy name!

In His Love,
Danielle Kelly
